Texas appraisal districts have been on the hunt for a solution to help their homeowners lower their property tax burdens. Tarrant County’s Appraisal District recently approved proposals with this goal...
There is nothing quite like enjoying the affection of your pets. Their limitless love and entertaining antics help get us through the day. For me, my pets have been the real MVPs of the pandemic—getting to spend more time with them while working from home has made the past year bearable.
February 19 is International Love Your Pet Day, and we thought we’d celebrate with you by showing off some of SWBC’s favorite furry friends!
Charlie Amato and Lacy
“’You’re not the boss of me!’ I said, as I gave her a treat for the 18th time today.’” –Anonymous Dog Owner
Lacy is our favorite pup and unofficial mascot at SWBC. If you’re lucky, you can sometimes catch her in Charlie’s executive office at headquarters!
Jessica McElroy and Skylar
“Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them, and filling the emptiness we didn’t ever know we had.” –Thom Jones, American Writer
Jessica is known around the marketing department for fostering dogs from the animal shelter so they have a loving home while they’re up for adoption. She adopted Skylar in 2016.
Nikki McNish and Mylo
“Even the tiniest poodle or chihuahua is still a wolf at heart.” –Dorothy Hinshaw, American Author
This little guy is only two months old, but he’s got a gigantic personality. Nikki is fond of saying, “He’s three pounds of dog and 1,000 pounds of attitude!”
Indy and Ramona
“I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.” –Jean Cocteau, French Poet
Our digital media manager, Kristina Herrin, says she’s always chasing after these two! Luckily, Ramona the cat is incredibly sweet with her little brother.
Autumn Fitzpatrick and Lucky
“Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.” –Dean Koontz, American Author
According to Autumn, Lucky is a person disguised as a pup! He refuses to lay on the floor; his pillow is a must-have; and he enjoys cuddles from his humans.
Me, Tex, and Dietz
"What do dogs do on their day off? Can't lie around—that's their job." –George Carlin, American Comedian
These guys light up my life! Tex is an Australian Sheppard and Dietz is my pit bull. I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world—though I would like to switch places and take their job for a day.
We hope you enjoyed celebrating International Love Your Pet Day with SWBC! Those of us who are lucky enough to have a pet in our lives understand that they are family—and, like family, they can be expensive to care for. Pet health insurance addresses the potentially high costs of medical care due to illness or injury to dogs and cats by reimbursing the policyholder a substantial portion of the veterinary bill for covered expenses.
